Monongahela River

Monongahela River is a 130-mile-long river located in north-central West Virginia. It begins at the confluence of the Tygart and West Fork Rivers in Marion County and flows in a northerly direction until it reaches the Pennsylvania border. The river then flows through Pennsylvania and joins the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh to form the Ohio River. The Monongahela River played a significant role in the development of West Virginia's coal industry, as it was an important transportation route for coal and other resources. Today, the Monongahela River is still used for transportation, as well as recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and kayaking. There are several parks and trails along the river, including the Monongahela River Trail and the Monongahela National Forest
